Creative block: the struggle is real

I never wanted to be a "starving artist". I attended art school to learn graphic design skills so that I could make a living at my craft. Maybe that's the practical side of me; which is always at fighting with my creative side. So, I became a graphic designer because being a fine artist was... Continue Reading →

Happy Easter. He is Risen. He is Risen, Indeed.

28 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. 2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was... 4 Rules Artists Live By

For as long as I can remember I have drawn, painted, designed, stitched...basically, create anything using many different mediums. Being an artist is a special thing. Watercolor Aspens

My favorite time of the year is Fall, followed closely by winter. Yep, I am a winter lover. But by far, fall is the best. The only problem...it doesn't last long enough! Living in Colorado, the annual migration from the city to the high country for Aspen peeping is a tradition in our house. It's... Continue Reading →

Watercolor Christmas Gift Tags

I ask...is it too early to think about Christmas? The last two nights I have let the creative girl inside me win and stay up late and paint. Like, past midnight-late. Really, I am a night owl but I have a day job, and kids, and commitments that prevent me from staying up late and... Continue Reading →

Thoughts on transformation

I've been thinking a lot about transformation lately. Sometimes we can forget who we are, who we once were, or who we wanted to be once upon a time. I think that can happen to anyone but it especially true with mothers. I have been mothering for 15 years now and for all those years everything has been about the kids. Their milestones, their activities, their ambitions...I have been doing what is in their best interest and at the same time, I have put on hold my own ambitions. Why do we do that?
