Leave your anxiety on a leaf. Art therapy.

Dealing with anxiety

Leaves in a Stream.

I struggle with anxiety. There, I said it. It sucks. It can be depressing and exhausting but I am taking steps to deal with it.

Like, talking it out with a therapist. She has been amazing in giving me little tricks to help putting it an in perspective.

Watercolor art therapy

Are you struggling to relax and destress? Here is a little exercise my therapist taught me to help calm worry, stress, and anxiety.

It inspired this latest watercolor painting. It hangs in my kitchen and serves as a reminder everyday.

Close your eyes and breathe.

Art therapy for anxiety and depression

Imagine sitting next to a stream.

Breathe.

You see leaves floating by.

Breathe.

Imagine the sounds of the stream. With each worry that pops in your mind, place it on a leaf. Let it float down the stream.

Let your mind wonder. And breathe.

If you think “I am bored” or “this is dumb”, that’s okay too, just place that thought on a leaf and let it flow on by.

The same worries may come up again, place it on another leaf and send it on it’s way…again.

If you are suffering, don’t be afraid to ask for help. This doesn’t make you weak—it makes you brave! ❤️
