On Having Faith That We Are Covered

“He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” ~Psalm 91:4

Just as mama eagles guard and protect their young under their wings, in this verse Jesus Christ is the One who covers us with His feathers, and there we will find refuge. We will be protected under his care.

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. ~Psalm 91:3

That’s great. But do we really have faith that we are covered? Or, to put it in 2018 terms: Do we trust Jesus to have our back?

When things are going great, I know I would say wholeheartedly, “YES! I trust Him.” But when the going gets rough, that can be whole different story. We easily forget that it’s not about us doing it alone. That we have someone very powerful on our side.

Wouldn’t you agree?

In the darkness it’s hard to see the light.

I have been reminding myself lately that our Lord is like an eagle, spreading his wings, protecting us when we need it…and pushing us out of the nest when it’s time to fly. And if we step out and fall flat on our face? Then He is still there to scoop us up in his wings, giving us a ride, so we can soar like eagles.

I pray that we have faith and trust in the Lord. To take that scary step (whatever that may be for you) and not let fear rule our decisions. Let us continue to move forward; to make mistakes and be okay; to have the courage to make things right when we are wrong; to forgive those who have wronged us; to take chances; to grow; and have faith that Jesus Christ is there, always protecting, always watching, wanting us to soar. Amen.
