Valentine Watercolor Project

Every year I always struggle to come up with in creative and meaningful Valentine’s gift for my husband. He, on the other hand always writes me a poem. So creative.

I have a bit of a love affair with Aspen trees. I love how the dark spots look like eyes. I love how when lovers carve their initials in the bark, it turns black. I wonder if they come back every year to their carved tree or did their love fade away?

I decided to forgo the tree carving and painted my beloved Aspens instead:

I liked it so much that I painted two more for some of my favorite gal friends and their husband/family.

Each time I changed up my technique on the background, testing out different variations.
