My favorite time of the year is Fall, followed closely by winter. Yep, I am a winter lover. But by far, fall is the best. The only problem…it doesn’t last long enough!
Living in Colorado, the annual migration from the city to the high country for Aspen peeping is a tradition in our house. It’s the last hurrah before winter and the mountains are covered with snow, which attract a different kind of migration.

In my pursuit of reconnecting to my artist soul I found many amazing videos on YouTube. Â Like this one from WaterQuest, entitled “Learn to Paint Autumn Trees”.
Using the tips in the video I recreated a watercolor of my beloved Aspen. If you are looking to try painting your own Aspens I would check out this YouTube channel. The techniques shown in the video can be applied to paint lots of other tree scenes, not just Aspens.
